elen Joseph Hospital is a government public hospital with the sole responsibility of
providing tertiary health care services to the community of Gauteng. In order to meet this
responsibility, the hospital relies heavily on the commitment and competency of its ethical
and naturally caring employees. On a daily basis between 900 and 1000 patients visit the
out-patient pharmacy to collect their medicine. An in-pharmacy robotic solution to handle
these high patient loads was installed in 2016 and dispenses medicine to 7 pharmacy
windows. As part of the overall technology solution, the pharmacy dispensing software
speaks to scripting software which the doctors use in consulting rooms. This e-scripting
functionality allows the pharmacy to process scripts faster with easy access to all electronic
records.
